About Claire
I’m Claire Chandler, passionate Tasmanian and proud representative for our great state in Canberra.
I’ve been blessed to live and work in beautiful Tasmania my entire life. I was raised in the Huon Valley and studied law at the University of Tasmania before working in risk advisory for Deloitte in Hobart.
In 2019, I was given the honour of being elected to the Australian Senate. In 2021 I was appointed as Chair of the Senate Finance & Public Administration Committee and as Deputy Government Whip.
Following the 2022 election, I was appointed as the Shadow Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Because I know Tasmania, I know how important it is to fight for jobs and economic opportunity, support for local businesses and producers, and a common sense approach to governing and legislating.
I entered politics to help ensure that the next generation of Tasmanians will have the opportunity to live, work and raise a family in our beautiful state; to stand up for the crucial democratic values of freedom of speech and freedom of expression, and to show young Australians that you can make a difference and make your voice heard in Canberra.
I'm fighting to give you the best in education and training, for investment in the regions, and to make sure our local businesses get ahead. It's what Tasmanians deserve.
